What's up, Wanderers! My name is Dimitri, and I wanted to open a conversation about cleaning up. I am using this bus stop in Walnut Hills for reference to walk you through the difference it makes when we clean up our public spaces! Bus stops are very important places for community members, because they offer valuable transportation alternatives for folks who do not have their own personal vehicles or rides. Furthermore, bus stops are important for shelter when you’re on the move to places like your home, work, school, or other safe spaces.

In the previous photo, there is a garbage can for the trash and this second image shows all the garbage that didn't make it into that trash can. You can see all the glass, cigarette butts, and trash. Just awful! Making our community look unhealthy and unloved! The contrast of these two photos show how our community members just blatantly disregarded the presents of these trash cans.

The classy clean up crew and I swept up all this excess trash. It was such a gross look. All these nasty cigarette butts all over this bus stop–whoever can accurately guess how many butts we swept up gets a cookie of their choosing!!!

Ahhh finally all clean. It only took us five minutes and a broom! Now, with the trash being “canned” we can take one more look to see if we got everything.

HOLY SPICK AND SPAN SPOTLESS SPOILS!!!! In the seconds it took us to sweep up the garbage, it would’ve been less time for whoever threw all the trash on the ground in the first place. Keeping our community clean doesn’t take that much effort, however even putting a little thought and time can make such a huge difference!

With that being said, here is the collective of creatives that make up this clean up crew: from left to right, Cheyenne, Dimitri (myself), and Tab. We want to leave you with the passion to pick up after yourselves and encourage others to do the same. Showing that our communities–our collective sanctuaries and homes–are loved and appreciated!
